Gordie Hall · Twenty-two years keeping the lifts and the steel honest

FAQ

Three questions. Then the plant questions.

I get the same three notes from people who arrived from an ad. I will answer them in the first three headings, without theatre.

Is this the official site?
No. This website is an independent planning guide, not affiliated with any attraction or its operator. The operator has its own site and its own ticket window. I maintain notes about the machine. I do not speak for the attraction.
Do you sell tickets?
No. I do not sell tickets, hold inventory, or take payment. If a page or an ad implied a checkout here, it was wrong. Use the operator if you want a timed slot. Use these pages if you want to know whether the slot is worth the weather.
I came from an advertisement. Is this different?
If you came from an advertisement, the same rules apply. Still independent. Still not the operator. Still no checkout. Read The Machine, The Decks, and Planning, then decide. Privacy specifics for ad traffic are on Privacy.
How fast are the lifts?
About fifty-eight seconds lobby to the main decks when the plant is behaving. Queues are people, not cable.
Does the tower move?
Yes. Wind sway is designed in. You may notice it higher up. That is not a failure.
How thick is the glass floor?
On the order of two and a half inches of laminated glass, in plies, in a steel frame. It holds a crowd. It does not invent a view on a fog day.
Should I pay extra for 447 m?
Only on a clear day when the horizon is the point. Low cloud makes the extra ticket a donation.
